RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE EDITORIAL BOARD

  1. general provisions

- The rights and duties of the editorial board derive from the totality of tasks and functions assigned to it, and are set forth in this job description approved by the Editor-in-Chief of the journal.

- Appointment to the position of editors and dismissal from it is made by the order of the Editor-in-Chief.

- A leading scientist with at least a PhD degree, with a Hirsch index of at least 2 and experience as a reviewer of scientific publications is appointed to the position of editor.

- The editor should know:

o Legislative and regulatory legal acts.

o Methods of editing information and regulatory materials, editorial processing of figures, formulas, illustrations.

o Domestic and foreign achievements of science in the field of geography and water resources.

o Procedure of reviewing and preparation of manuscripts for printing.

o State standards for terms, designations and units of measurement.

o Conventional abbreviations and symbols used in geographical sciences.

o Grammar and stylistics of Russian/Kazakh/English.

o Copyright.

- During the absence of the editor (illness, vacation, etc.), his/her duties are performed by a person appointed in accordance with the established procedure. This person acquires the corresponding rights and bears responsibility for the quality and timely fulfillment of his/her duties.

  1. Functions of the editor

- Performs editing of the published scientific journal.

- Participates in the selection and appointment of reviewers.

- Considers manuscripts and reviews on them.

- Prepares conclusions on the possibility of publishing the manuscript as submitted or after revision, taking into account the proposed corrections, additions, abbreviations.

- In case of rejection of a manuscript, prepares a justification of the rejection.

- Edits the manuscripts accepted for publication, providing necessary assistance to the authors (on improvement of manuscript structure, choice of terms, design of illustrations, etc.), coordinates with them the recommended changes.

- In the process of editing checks the authors' fulfillment of reviewers' comments and requirements to the manuscripts during their revision, completeness of the submitted material, correspondence of the titles of the manuscript sections to their content, as well as the extent to which the works reflect the latest achievements of science.

- Performs the necessary literary editing of manuscripts.

- Together with the authors and the technical editor reviews the illustrative materials, determines their place in the publication.

  1. The editorial board has the following rights

- To familiarize with the initial manuscripts coming to the editorial office.

- To make proposals for improving the work related to reviewing and publishing.

- Within the limits of its competence to report to the immediate supervisor about all shortcomings revealed in the course of fulfillment of its official duties and to make proposals for their elimination.

  1. The Editorial Board is responsible

- The Editorial Board is responsible for the timely issue of the journal, quality of publications, originality of manuscripts and compliance with the requirements for publication design.

- The Editorial Board is responsible for all changes to the technical requirements of the scientific journal.
