Abstract

The article considers Kazakhstan and foreign electronic databases of geographical names. The advantages and disadvantages of some sites, systems and programs adapted for research in the field of toponymy have been indicated, conclusions about the expediency of their use in toponymic research have been used. The possibilities of using the databases of world geographical names GNS and GeoNames for the study of toponyms located in Kazakhstan are considered.
